Where Things Get Weird
Developed in collaboration with Almond Surfboards, the Almond x Linus Summer Bike ($1,300) is based on Linus' Roadster Classic model, which combines a single speed coaster break with a more commute-friendly frame, and features a handmade cherry wood crate and leather top tube cover, as well as a board rack from Block Surf and your choice of Almond's sandia fish, pogie fish, kookumber, quadkumber, or sea kitten shortboards.
Dreams do come true. While it's not yet 2015, Nike is releasing Marty's mythical shoe from Back to the Future II. The Nike MAG ($TBD) won't feature power-lacing, but they will sport glowing LEDs and an electroluminescent "Nike" in the strap, all glowing for around five hours per charge. Only 1500 pairs of the Nike MAG will be available — and they'll all be auctioned off on eBay with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help fight Parkinson's disease.
We've seen our fair share of non-electronic sound amplifiers, but never one this... grand. The iVictrola ($985) merges an antique Magnavox phonograph horn with two pieces of American walnut along with your iPad to create what's basically a giant megaphone for its normally not-that-loud speaker, filling your space with sound without using a drop of electricity. Available this November in limited numbers.
